Is it possible for anyone out there to explain to me how you become a doctor?

Im considering on going into the medical field to become a General Practitioner, but im very confused when it comes to college. I recently graduated from high school and it would really benefit me if someone was so kind to explain the process to me and what is required. Ive been doing my own research but it would help if i got a perspective from an outside source.
