Careers that involve helping people with their personal problems?

I am currently majoring in nursing because I want to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner because I want to help people with their personal problems and improve their quality of life . But in case I change my mind later, can someone tell me about some other careers that involve counseling people or dealing with their mental state and personal problems?
